The DataKirk Partners with Edinburgh Zoo to Bridge the Environmental Divide Through STEM and AI Education
The DataKirk is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS), the organisation behind Edinburgh Zoo to address one of the most pressing but overlooked challenges in the UK’s green sector: the lack of diversity and inclusion.
While climate change and biodiversity loss dominate environmental headlines, the environmental sector remains the second least diverse in the UK. Just 4.81% of environmental professionals are from global majority backgrounds, despite these communities making up 12.64% of the overall workforce.
At The DataKirk, we believe we cannot solve the climate and nature crises without also solving the diversity crisis within the environmental space. Inclusion is not optional — it is essential.

This new partnership with RZSS is about more than collaboration, it’s a movement to empower underrepresented communities through access to knowledge, opportunity, and the natural world.
